As kids, my parents used to pack my brothers and me up in our Tahoe for a scenic drive or “Sunday Drive” around the Mohawk Valley in Upstate NY.

We’d admire homes we could never afford and planes taking off on trips that felt like fantasies. We’d have picnics at public parks or fast food on the way. And while the yearning for a more secure life was palpable, we had each other and our shared dreams.

Many years later now, with a bit more financial security and having traveled across the world, it still feels nostalgic to find a road that offers a new perspective: nicer homes, different lives. It always makes me feel like they’re with me.

Now I call them manifestation rides.

So here are roads and drives from all over the world that will make you feel something and take you to a different place.
